New Update

Extended Time to Complete a Series of Exams by UK CAA

Following representations by Pathway and several other ATOs, the UK CAA has recently published extended times to complete a series of exams. Your attention is drawn to the CAA Website publication ORS4 1488 that extends the time available to complete a series of exams for those affected by the exam cancellations between 19 Mar 20 and 31 May 21.

Changeover Dates from Old to New Syllabus Exams

Due to the delays from exam cancellations in the recent lockdowns the following new delayed deadlines have been announced recently by the UK CAA and AustroControl for the latest first sittings of the old syllabus exams (ECQB06/07) and the of changeover to the New Syllabus exams (ECQB2020):

Notes:

  1. AustroControl allow changeover mid series to the new syllabus, the UK CAA do not.
  1. The UK CAA withdrawal date of the old syllabus exams is non-compliant with Article 3 of the EASA Directive EDD 2018/001/R so could lead to future difficulties with a UK licence transfer to any EASA State (SOLI).
  2. New syllabus exams (ECQB2020) have been available to take since Jul 20.
